Our second confirmed guest for Otakukon is here. The young author, Rutendo Rusere who wrote her first book, “The Society that laughs” will be at Otakukon Anime Festival 2026 talking to us about the book and the concepts within the book.
Rue Rusere is the last of her mother’s four daughters. Raised in a world that taught her both tenderness and resilience, she learnt early to observe, to question and to feel deeply.Writing became her way of making sense of quiet injustices, unspoken truths and the everyday moments that often go unnoticed. Through her work, she gives voice to stories that many live but few dare to tell.The Society That Laughs is her first published collection ..a reflection of the world as it is, and as it could be, if only we chose empathy over indifference.She is a Supply Chain graduate from the University of Zimbabwe and continues to pursue both storytelling and analytical work with equal passion.
