Competition 2: Food or Cooking Theme
We have some good news for all those aspiring comic book artists! @Billmasukuart has partnered with OTAKUKON for a comic book drawing competition. The competition genre is Food or Cooking for a single issue 24 page comic with a submission deadline of 15 December 2023.

Have you ever wanted to make your very own comic book? This is your sign to get started! You have two month to write and draw a cooking story or a food story. The story should be of your own creation and the use of characters not owned by the creators is currently not allowed.
In this first round of the competition winners get a copy of a local comic, a copy of a manga, and a seat in a workshop with comic and animation industry pros!

Can my work be in colour?
No, the comic book must be in black and white.
Can my child enter?
Yes, as long as their guardian gives permission to enter the tournament. Written permission may be requested by OTAKUKON to this effect for competitors under 18 years of age.
What is the prize?
The winner of the first competition will win: a copy of a local comic, a copy of manga, a seat in a workshop with comic and animation industry professionals
Is there an entrance fee?
There is no entrance fee for this first round. As the competition gets bigger as as we increase prizes, a small fee may be charged to register for the competition.
Can I enter from anywhere in Zimbabwe?
The competition is open to all Zimbabwean residents. For residents outside of Harare you may be asked to pay for shipping costs of the prizes to the city of your residence if you cannot collect from Harare.
When does the competition close?
15 October is the dealine for registration into the competition while 15 December is the deadline for submission of your 24 page comic.
Can I hand in my submission on the same day I register?
No, registration will close on the 15th of October. An unregistered entry will not be considered for the competition.
Can I change my chosen genre after I have registered?
This competition has a single genre. You may not change this in your submission.
